As part of the wider community response that assists in case of emergency, the SSN occasionally provide help with:
- small tasks in the home, such as changing sheets, cooking a meal, light cleaning.
- small jobs around the house that need handyman skills e.g. changing a light bulb, fixing a screen, hammering in a loose nail.
- small jobs in the garden e.g. taking care of a fallen branch, weeding a garden. This is not maintenance work but rather a one-off job.
- visiting and checking on the well-being of local community members.
We may also help with managing the community through Facebook coordination posts, liaising between the community and emergency services, assisting with protecting families from unwanted contact (e.g. from the media following a tragedy).
