The Management Committee Members of the Sanford Support Network are:
Barbara Kienast – President
Barbara is the founder of Samford Support Network. She is an incredibly hardworking person, balancing all her amazing community support work with her family and a very challenging job in project management of early medical research.
She is our networking person, liaising with all the wide-ranging organisations that the SSN deals with. Barbara also provides the essential first point of contact to the SSN for our clients, never hesitating to organise and come to the aid of people who are struggling.
Barbara was the well-deserved recipient of the Samford Community Award in 2017 and finalist in the 2019 Australian of the Year Awards for the Queensland Local Hero Award.
Barbara is also the founder and president of Support Networks Australia.
Kris Martin – Secretary Kris works full-time in a specialist animal hospital and holds other volunteer positions; mentoring young women and a Director of the Australian Animal Cancer Foundation.
She shares her home with one husband, two very delightful border collies, an indoor only rescue cat and various other critters that come and go.
Kris is also a foundation Team Member of Support Networks Australia.
Steve Parry – Treasurer
As Treasurer, Steve looks after the finances and manages the drive reconciliation for the SSN. Additionally, he’s the driver of the development, documenting and refining of our many processes and procedures, our IT Coordinator, and developer of the SSN online Drive Information System, which has contributed to the Samford Support Network business systems becoming more professional and resilient over the last year.
Steve was also the recipient of the 2014 Samford Community Award and a National Medal for 25 years volunteer emergency services work. Steve is a retired IT consultant, happily married with two daughters and four grandchildren who all live in the Samford area.
Steve is also a foundation Team Member and Treasurer of Support Networks Australia.
Marilyn McIntyre – Committee Member
Marilyn is a retired teacher who taught primary school children in several towns in Qld for 40 years. She is an original member of the network and she is a committee member.
Marilyn takes care of our client and members databases, ensures that all our email groups are up to date, and also part of the drive coordination team. She lives in the Samford area with her husband, their 2 dogs and a cat. Her 3 grown-up daughters and their partners all live in the Brisbane area.
Keria Newman – Committee Member Keria joined the Management Committee in 2019. [More information to follow]
